Metanium Ointment is a treatment for nappy rash.

What is it used for?

  • Nappy rash.

How does it work?

  • Metanium ointment contains titanium dioxide, titanium peroxide, titanium salicylate in a water-repellent, siliconised base. It is a type of medicine called a barrier ointment and is used to treat nappy rash.
  • Barrier ointments like Metanium work by forming a protective water repellent film on surface of the skin. This creates a barrier between the baby's delicate skin and the irritants in urine and faeces.
  • After removing the soiled nappy, gently clean the skin and pat it dry. Wash your hands and then dab a small amount of ointment onto the sore area of skin. Spread it thinly so that the skin texture can still be seen through the ointment.
Repeat this at each nappy change to treat nappy rash.
